Statement of Belief

We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, and our only authority and final appeal in all matters of doctrine, practice and conduct.

We hold that it is the will of God and the command of our Lord Jesus Christ that we preach to all the gospel of free salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose death atones for sin in order that those who respond may become disciples of Jesus Christ and live in communion with God now and for ever. A fuller statement of doctrine is available.

Our principles

We are a Local Church , financially self-supporting and independent of other churches.

The Leadership Team (currently five men and one woman) seeks to exercise a wise care for all who attend the various meetings arranged. It meets regularly for prayer and business and will be responsible for all aspects of activities within the fellowship.

The Leadership Team will be accountable only to God for carrying out its responsibilities in a fit and proper manner.

The Leadership Team will seek to allocate specific duties, appropriate to identified gifting, for those within the fellowship willing to be committed to sharing our concerns as written below, and to be accountable to the Team for those duties performed.

Legal “control” of the property is vested in Trustees, currently the Leadership Team.

Our practices

We believe that there are two Christian ordinances instituted in the New Testament: Baptism and Communion (otherwise known as Breaking of Bread or the Lord's Supper).

We practise baptism of believers by total immersion, an act by which committed Christians publicly confess their faith.

We have communion each Sunday, holding that it is the privilege of all believers to come together to remember the Lord and to show His death until He returns.

Our membership

Everyone is welcome at our services and we invite all who would confess Christ as their Saviour to participate in the communion.

We do not have membership as such, but encourage those who choose to attend Spring Mount to be faithful in supporting their Local Church, to exercise due responsibility to fellow believers and to recognise the authority of the Leadership Team.

Everyone is encouraged to bring ideas and concerns to the relevant member of the Leadership Team.

Our concern

Our concern is for children and young people, men and women of all ages, that they all may know that salvation through Christ can transform lives wherever they are lived out, including home, school, work and leisure. To that end, our ultimate aim is that they will come to faith in Christ by whatever means and will continually grow as disciples of Jesus Christ, whether or not they remain with Spring Mount.

Our vision

Our vision is for three worshipping communities, mutually supported under the Spring Mount umbrella.

Statement of Doctrine.

The following is a summary of our beliefs:

•  The full inspiration of the Bible, its authority and sufficiency as not only containing, but being itself, the Word of God; the reliability of the New Testament in its testimony to the character and authorship of the Old Testament, and the need of the teaching of the Holy Spirit for a true and spiritual understanding of the whole.

•  The unity of the Godhead and the divine co-equality of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; the sovereignty of God in creation, providence and redemption.

•  The need of man's regeneration as a result of the fall, and his inherited sinful nature.

•  The Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His real and perfect manhood, the authority of His teaching and the infallibility of His utterances, His work of atonement for sinners by His vicarious sufferings and death, His bodily resurrection and His ascension into heaven, and His present priestly intercession for His people.

•  The justification of the sinner solely by faith through the atoning merits of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

•  The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit in regeneration, sanctification, ministry and worship.

•  The ordinances of Believers' Baptism and the communion as being instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ.

•  The personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in great power and glory.

•  The resurrection of the body and the judgement of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ. Those who have trusted in Christ as Lord shall be raised to be with Him forever. Those who have not believed will be subject to everlasting destruction and separation from the Lord's presence.
